A Message From The Bear…

Hey folks how’s everyone doing? So this past week has been a bit quiet on the old writing front, apologies for that it’s been a busy week. More importantly I have been thinking a lot about the future of The Gaming Bear. Now don’t worry I’m not going away but I am taking somewhat of a step back for a bit.

There is a number of reasons for this but the main one is time. Yes time is a precious commodity and at the moment I feel like I’m trying to do everything and not really having the time to do it. I don’t really want to spend less time writing, hell I enjoy it, but sometimes you have to be sensible about what you can and how much time you can dedicate to it. 

Another reason I’m deciding to “take it back a bit” is also my involvement with the MLD. For those that don’t know the MLD is a Rocket League league created for those who are not quiet professionals. It was created as a means for players who aren’t pro’s but want a fun and professional league to play in. I have been part of the MLD since the start (earlier this year) and my involvement in it has increased. The league is the brainchild of a good friend of mine, HalfShelledHero (who I actually “met” through writing) and currently has just finished its second season and guess what… I was part of the winning teams – The Dodgers. So yeah that was pretty cool, me and my teammate (known to some as TastyChicken and others Chicken Sombrero) but my involvement doesn’t just end in playing in the MLD I recently became the Vice President! While essentially I don’t actually have to do loads apart from support Hero and promote the league, I have taken a more active role and have enjoyed being involved with it. Essentially I probably would maintain the balance between video game writing and the my MLD commitments but the MLD seems to be blowing up right now… Well it’s gained a lot of positive traction recently and Hero ideally wants the MLD to be something potentially quite big and maybe profitable. 

So I came into a bit of a personal dilemma I want to help the MLD grow but doing that would mean I would have to divert more time towards it. Unfortunately something has to give and unfortuantely it couldn’t be my full time employment for obvious and boring reasons. 

So what does that mean for The Gaming Bear going forward? Well for one content won’t be as regularly; sadly the Weekly Bite will be facing the chop as it can be difficult sometimes to commit to producing a weekly feature on top of other articles and features. The look of The GamingBearmay change too, don’t get me wrong I love how the site looks at the moment (even given the limitations of being on wordpress) but it was set up for a more general gaming media source than a personal one; one which would suit numerous weekly article and features, alas I can’t commit to that so I may make the site feel more personal.

I will still write about video games don’t worry and I will also post content on NowLoading. I will also be writing stuff for the MLD so keep an eye out for that. So there we go folks. I would like to thank all those that have ever commented, retweeted, followed and everything else in between. Like I say this isn’t goodbye it’s more hey I’m still here just kinda a bit busy.
